Custom Desk...WooHooo!!

Gone is my old computer desk! It was generic looking and showing it's age. When I first got
into computers years back, computer desks were not easy to find (much less quality models at affordable prices). An elderly carpenter friend of ours made this custom desk for me and I brought it home the other day. It is made primarily of Lodgepole Pine, but it sports other goodies too. I asked "Jim" to trim the front using Cedar from fence posts that my grandfather would have made at least 50 years ago. I gathered them from an old stack of posts in the pasture. The edge of the desk surface and the keyboard pull-out is trimmed in Walnut (the places that get more wear). The drawer handles are made of White-tail Deer antlers that I found and picked up while riding; and the drawers are beautifully dove-tail joined. I also had a shelf unit made to match. I'm 'pickled tink' with my new set-up. Jim did a wonderful job! Inspired by my new addition, I kinda spruced up my little office-spare bedroom.

Oh how beautiful Shery! Just perfect! It is hard to find quality computer desks unless you want to spend a fortune, but it looks like Jim did a wonderful job! I love the antler handles. Thanks so much for sharing. Ineed to show my husband now :)

Have a blessed day!

Ooooh! I love it! My husband can do stuff like this; but he rarely has time anymore. :( I love handles and the matching shelf unit! I need a office makeover big time - right now I use two filing cabinets and a board across; till I can find something I like......

Love everything you and your talented husband did. Doesn't having things made from what you find and inherit make it that much more special and comforting to surround yourself in? I find it that way!

Very nice desk. I know how wonderful it is to have someone build something you have in your mind. My husband does just that for me, most of the time. He sometime takes artistic liberties and sometimes my ideas do not work out. Looks like you have a very cozy spot to work.
