Wunnerful, Wunnerful

This time of year is just 'wunnerful' (to quote Lawrence Welk). Northerners wait a long LONG time for green to return and when it does, we're in a sort of glorious dither. I've got so many things to do, but sometimes I find myself just enjoying all the sights, sounds and smells of summer. I've got a small flock of heirloom pullets that are coming along nicely, I've been creating a garden courtyard of sorts out of recycled 'junktiques', my xeriscape project is an ongoing venture, we're riding for calving and brandings and really enjoying all the wildflowers along the way.

Babies, babies, babies...'tiz the season. I was thrilled to happen upon a WET newborn antelope. I hurried to take 10 photos and left quickly. Mama came right back and finished cleaning her new baby up. I also discovered a Song Sparrow's nest in a pasture by the house and I'm watching it so I can get progressive photos. And, the calf is one of our's...love her markings. She's an Angus x Hereford cross. I hope ya'all out there in Bloglandia are having a good spring too.

I just read your Farmgirl blog and when I got back on my blog I saw you had a new post here. So off I hop to see what else you are up to. My grandfather was a dairy farmer so I do love to pet a cows sweet face. Your plantings look like they are taking hold and your chick is sooo cute. Of course since we are in Michigan we do understand the shortness of time to get everything done and always seem to carry something over to the next year. If you want to stop in, I have posted a few pics or posies I have planted here:

and some newer pics of the chicks here:http://brtowsleyblogs.blogspot.com/2010/05/lot-of-cute-little-chicks.html
I know I do not have to tell you to stay busy but maybe I should say take time to smell the roses. Have a great weekend.

WOW! I love that calf! The other pictures are wonderful too, we have the same kind of tastes. I love all your stock tanks, rusty buckets and old headboards. I have a headboard I'm going to make into a gate into our garden and have a small collection of rusty buckets and old tea kettles, dishpans etc.... My Dh just laughs at me at auctions I bid on all the junk nobody else wants*wink*

Thanks for sharing your pictures :o)
Blessings,
Kelle

Love your garden, it looks a lot like mine! I guess great ranch-farmgirl minds think alike :) When ever I need something for the garden I go "shopping" in the "junk" pile.
